Finishing the Center:

Fasten off the yarn. Turn the piece inside out.

Join the pink yarn to the center. All petals are worked in the front loops only (FLO).

Petal Repetition:

Repeat the steps above to create a total of 5 petals.

Tension Tip

If you are not yet comfortable with tight tension, you can perform a decrease (dec) instead of skipping a stitch to maintain the shape.

To secure the yarn, work 2 ch and pull the yarn tight before hiding the ends inside the petals.

Phase 3: Flower Cup (Green)

Standard Flower Variant:

Use this version for the fully open flower.

Round 1:8 sc in magic ring(8)
Round 2:7 inc, 1 sc(15)
Round 3:15 sc(15)

Do not cut the yarn. Use it to attach the cup to the flower by working a sequence of (sl st, ch 1) around the edge. Stuff with fiberfill as you work. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Phase 4: Flower Bud Variant

Bud Flower:

To create a bud, first crochet the flower (Phase 1 & 2) as usual.

Bud Cup (Green):

Crochet the following for the bud's base:

Round 1:8 sc in magic ring(8)
Round 2:7 inc, 1 sc(15)
Round 3:15 sc(15)
Round 4:15 sc(15)
Round 5:15 sc(15)

Do not cut the yarn. Attach the cup to the flower using this sequence 8 times: sl st, ch 1, sl st, 4 ch, then work back along the chain: 1 sc, 2 hdc.

Bud Center (Bright Pink):

Crochet the inner core for the bud:

Round 1:8 sc in magic ring(8)
Round 2:inc in each st around(16)
Round 3:(1 sc, inc) * 8(24)
Round 4:(3 sc, inc) * 6(30)
Round 5:30 sc(30)

Round 10:Work a ruffle in FLO: (3 ch, sl st) repeat until the end of the round

Cut two separate lengths of yarn. Use the first thread to pull the back loops (BLO) tight to close the bottom of the bud center. Use the second thread to sew the petals to the center, securing them only at the top.
